For high school seniors, now is the time to begin college applications for Fall 2026. Tacoma Public Schools partners with eight schools across Washington to guarantee admission for qualifying students. Many schools have early decision deadlines, beginning as early as November 1.   

Letters of guaranteed admission: 

Students and families may receive email communication from the Washington Guaranteed Admissions Program and Pacific Lutheran University. The email will share the name of one or more colleges to which they have met admission requirements. Even though admission is guaranteed, students must complete an application if they want to attend that college; the email includes the application link. 

If students do not receive guaranteed admission to a college they are interested in, they may still apply to that college.  

What You Should Do Next: 

• Apply now — don’t wait! Submitting applications early ensures access to scholarships, housing, and advising. You can start now and reduce the stress by applying to one or two schools and gaining early options. 

• Claim fee waivers — check with your counselor or application portals for eligibility. Transcripts: Available through Parchment. 

• Meet with your counselor — review your CADRs, personal statement (if needed), and application checklist. VANI Process: Through our district’s Verification and Notification of Intent (VANI) process, students will be supported with identifying their next steps.  

• Apply for financial aid 

  • FAFSA — Federal Student Aid Login. Over 50% of our families are eligible for aid, and with the College Bound Scholarship, tuition may be covered completely.  

  • WASFA — Completing a WASFA means you are applying only for Washington state financial aid. If you are unsure which financial aid application to complete (you only fill one financial aid application), start with the WASFA Questionnaire. Students who prefer not to submit the federal FAFSA form may still use the WASFA to apply for state aid only. 

• Celebrate your achievement and let us celebrate with you — upload your acceptance letter to SchooLinks or share with your counselor.
